Forcing onions on a feather

green onion technology

For distillation on a feather, smaller bulbs are often chosen. The technology is simple – fill them with water for two days, when roots appear, cut off the necks, but not low, to living tissue. In a box with soil, plant tightly to each other in a bridge way. If at the time of planting you have germinated bulbs or those that have begun to develop roots, use them first.

First, the onion needs to be kept warm, and when the feather begins to grow, transfer the box to the windowsill. It is cooler and lighter there, which contributes to the development of good roots and strong thick feathers.

It is too wasteful to use large good bulbs for forcing on a feather, and it is not necessary at all. For the fullest use of the bow, use this technology. Hold a large onion in water for a day, when the roots appear, cut the scales along the perimeter of the bottom, as if edging the roots, with a sharp knife. Carefully remove the scales layer by layer. You will have the naked middle of the bulb with roots in your hands. Immediately plant this planting material in the soil, deepening only a third. More than half of the mass of the bulb will be used for food.

Onion care during growth

Onions when forcing on a feather need regular top dressing. It is better to use complex complex fertilizers: Effect, nitroammophoska. Without top dressing, even in good soils, the yield of greens will be meager, after two cuts it noticeably decreases, and the greens lose their color and sharpness. For top dressing, dissolve a teaspoon of fertilizer in three liters of water and water with this solution once a week.

Just keep in mind that not every variety grows well. It is better to use sweet and peninsular varieties: they do not have a long period of physiological dormancy. In acute varieties, hibernation lasts much longer. The ideal option is multi-germ varieties or shallots.
